The Copy

InDesign. It is definitely a thing. After many hours of YouTube and blog posts from Adobe, I caved and used the Blurb plugin for books. Not as elevated as custom, but semi-custom. With that out of the way, I landed on a design I liked. Left side would be the when, where, and why. Right side would be a single image of the object. Then repeat through the entire glass catalog. Easy enough. I know where the objects are from, and could leave the when and why to the main copy.

Which is what stopped the project in its tracks. The book is essentially done. Front cover, back cover are done. First page and following pages are done. Layout, typography are done. I am left with a single missing piece - the copy from my sister. The why we have the object in the first place. And if we are being honest, the likelyhood of her getting around to it in the near future is pretty low. 30% chance in the next year.

The Unfinished Business

Here we are, stuck at the end of part one. So close to part two! Perhaps, rather than a real story, each piece of glass might be a simple self-contained story that could tell a larger story. Something along the lines of a novel in 48 parts. Some related, some not, some silly, some serious. Maybe. Time will tell.

Quite the disappointing end to this chapter, right?! After all this work and time, for it to sit unfinished. But, don’t give up hope. There will be a part two. Someday.
